CRASH TEST LOADING!: Turns Out Chasing My Dreams Kinda Worked?

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew two things for sure: I wanted to create, and I wanted to spend a lot of time on the computer. Now, at 26, it feels surreal, but I’ve gotten everything I ever dreamed of.

See You Next Tuesday (SYNT) started as a passion project—a way for me to dip my toes into the world I’d spent my entire life idolising. As a kid, I would beg my mum to get me each month’s addition of Nylon, Teen Vogue, Seventeen and would lock myself in my bedroom, consuming endless Rookie Mag articles while scrolling through Tumblr. I’d reblog photo after photo of effortlessly cool girls backstage at fashion shows, music festivals, and movie premieres, imagining myself sitting beside them, with my teenage acne and mismatched socks; I was so desperate to be a part of it all. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been hungry for that kind of life; head in the clouds, stuck in a relentless pursuit to materialise my dreams.

For a long time, I wasn’t sure of the direction that SYNT was heading; unsure of where I wanted it to go. I’m still not entirely sure of the path: it unfolds itself day by day as we hurl ourselves toward the future, equal parts enthusiasm and fear. It’s scary to follow your dreams, to watch them take form right in front of your eyes. Oftentimes, it looks very different from how you first imagined it. Other times, it shows up exactly how you imagined it would. It’s crazy, and I’m just here for the ride.

Moral of the story: Nearly two years ago, I made the choice to follow my dreams—unapologetically. And last week, we hit a milestone moment. One that’s left me feeling proud of how far we’ve come, and even more excited for what’s next.

Last Sunday, SYNT teamed up with Lore Magazine for a yearbook-style community, and Toronto’s creative scene showed up in full force. Dozens came through to get their photo taken, vibe with our crew and the community, and contribute to a larger-scale project tied to our upcoming event: CRASH TEST!

Massive thank you to our amazing team and everyone who came out. Can’t wait to see what’s next ♡

You may be asking…what’s Crash Test?! I’m glad you asked ;)

Crash Test is the first (of many) Lore x SYNT collabs—the idea is simple: creative showcase, then party til the AM.
The event starts at 6:00 with an open reception + a video panel featuring a who’s who of Toronto directors and producers, including @jackperos, @gloromy, and @fairfieldproductions.ca. Then, at 10:00, we’ll change over to a proper party with some of Toronto's best DJs who'll keep the energy way up.

The night will be an open community space, and everyone is invited to pull up! For those of you who came out to our photoshoot with @callmealbs … expect to see your photos installed all over during the party, with a little help from our friends at Toronto Image Works.

Can’t wait to see you there ;)
