This is How Much You Should Charge as a Freelancer

Being a creative means at one point or another you’ll probably be either self-employed or freelancing, working with different clients on various projects.

The first thing you ask yourself when you start is:

What Do I Charge?

If math isn’t your strong suit, or you just don’t have the time to do it yourself, worry not. This spreadsheet will:

  • Help you figure out your freelancer rate

  • Give you the confidence to start taking on projects and clients

Listen, sitting down and getting the math done isn’t easy – it can be stressful and overwhelming, but you have to do it! Knowing the cold hard numbers is the only way to set yourself up for success and feel confident about the rates you’re charging.

Many of us at SYNT are freelancers ourselves and have been through the many ups and downs you experience when you start working for yourself. Avoid some of our biggest mistakes and take the math seriously before it’s too late.
